Cisco’s WebEx Teams collaboration platform, which was released last year after absorbing the much-loved Cisco Spark, is an all-in-one conferencing and collaboration solution that brings together messaging, video meetings, white boarding and audio conferencing in one easy-to-use package. Designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind, WebEx Teams keeps co-workers on the same page no matter where they are or what device they are using. With this commitment to seamless workflow in mind, Cisco recently added a number of useful features to an already dynamic collaboration solution. Let’s take a look at a few of the latest additions.

People Insights

Unless everyone in your company works in the same office, odds are pretty good that many of your employees are strangers to each other. This can make for some awkward video conferences--meeting with a co-worker shouldn’t feel like a blind date. Cisco has created a cure for this social anxiety with People Insights, which allows WebEx Teams users to see useful information about people before a meeting. You won’t get to delve too deep into that person’s life--but you will be privy to basic things like location, job title and professional history. And your co-workers will be able to access the same information about you. Consider it a little shortcut to a friendly working relationship.

Threaded Chats

Without threaded messages, an ongoing chat can easily devolve into a confusing mess of missed connections. But now, with threaded chats in WebEx Teams, you can reply directly to someone’s message, thereby keeping that line of thought contained in a legible and linear thread. That means no more piecing together a conversation by scrolling forever and sorting through messages to find what you’re looking for.

Mobile App Redesign

Cisco has doubled down on mobility, with redesigns of their iPhone, iPad and Android apps. These redesigns mean desktop apps and mobile apps will now share a common code, which will allow Cisco to roll out updates and additional features to desktop and mobile at the same time. Threaded chats, for instance, were released to both platforms simultaneously.

Unified Communications Manager

With Cisco Unified Communications Manager now available for all users, you can use WebEx Teams to call anyone inside or outside your company using their phone numbers. Just input their number directly into the desktop app and you’re all set. You can also hold, merge or transfer calls without juggling multiple apps. It’s all there in WebEx Teams.
