Okay, that title is a wee bit misleading, because you don’t necessarily have to choose between huddle rooms and conference rooms. But you will have to make some decisions about what kinds of rooms (and, in turn, what kinds of video solutions) to prioritize. Here are some things to consider.
Office Space
How is your office laid out? Does everyone have their own space, or do your employees work all together in an open office? The latter group will benefit quite a bit from huddle rooms, which provide much-needed quiet and privacy for employees who need to get away from the hubbub of an open space to join a video conference or make an important telephone call. It would be a good idea to make these rooms the focus of your video solution.
Team Sizes
The way you assign work will also play a huge part in deciding the question for you. If you’re a big fan of small teams, you probably won’t want to throw too much of your weight behind solutions for larger conference rooms. It’s a good idea to keep a large conference room for those all-hands-on-deck meetings, but those small teams are going to need frequent and hassle-free access to smaller rooms with all the video trimmings, so don’t skimp on huddle room solutions.
Remote vs. On Premises
Does your company rely more heavily on remote workers or on-site employees? If the former, your organization will probably want to invest in huddle room solutions, since you might not have enough employees in the office to justify larger conference rooms during meetings. However, if you and your team still abide a more traditional on-site model, you won’t want to ditch the conference room just yet--you definitely don’t want to try squeezing thirty people into a huddle room.
IT Muscle
Video conference solutions for all room sizes have gotten more streamlined and user-friendly over the years.
