Polycom has long been an industry leader in the  conferencing market, and with recent innovations like the video-ready RealPresence Trio, the forward-thinking manufacturer has only further solidified its standing as a trailblazer in conferencing and collaboration technology.

And now, with the announcement of its new unified cloud solutions strategy (Polycom Cloud Services) and the release of Polycom Device Management Services (PDMS), Polycom will be taking its telephony solutions to the next level with new capabilities that allow customers to more easily monitor their devices with cloud-based management, provisioning and updating.

"Simplifying human to human connections is in Polycom’s DNA, so leveraging the cloud to enhance how our customers manage, measure, and use their voice, video, and content systems makes complete sense," said Tarun Loomba, Executive Vice President of Global Solutions at Polycom. "Polycom Cloud Services streamline our ability to bring simpler and better experiences to our customers whose collaboration needs are growing every single day."

In short, Polycom Cloud Services and Polycom Device Management Services will give IT departments the power to manage the settings of phones on a case by case (phone by phone) basis or all at once, while also providing analytics on things like connectivity and call quality.

“Polycom Cloud Services offer customers unique, informative, and actionable data that empowers IT professionals to understand the value of their meeting rooms and make smart technology decisions that create exciting, productive, and fun meeting experiences for their employees,” said Mary McDowell, CEO of Polycom.

PDMS is available now for enterprise customers. In the coming months, Polycom will release a version of PDMS that will allow service providers to incorporate audio device management into the customer portal experience. Polycom will also release an API to service providers that will allow them to customize the services and analytics they provide to each customer.

Later this year, the company will expand its Device Management Services to include not only Polycom video endpoints, but endpoints from other vendors (Cisco, Avaya, Lifesize) as well. Additionally, Polycom will soon fold RealConnect, which integrates Skype for Business with existing video endpoints, into its new cloud service.
