When Plantronics announced it would be relaunching as Poly last month, the communications giant renewed its commitment to making today’s variegated collaboration methods mesh as seamlessly as possible.
“Our new brand represents the many elements of our history that we bring together to enable people to work the way we all work now, which is anywhere and across multiple collaboration tools,” said Amy Barzdukas, Poly’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
To that end, Poly has just announced the launch of its CCX Series, a desk phone solution that integrates with Microsoft Teams and allows users to access calls, calendars and meetings through the phone’s screen display. Both phones in the series--the CCX 500 and CCX 700--come loaded with Polycom HD Voice and a touch display screen and will support Skype for Business. The CCX 700 will also include a built-in camera for video calling.
“We constantly hear from our customers that they need tools and solutions to adapt to their needs, not the other way around,” said Shantanu Sarkar, executive vice president and general manager of the personal systems business at Poly. “Working with Microsoft allows us to push the boundaries of what it means to collaborate with solutions that just work, no matter what.”
But Poly isn’t stopping there. The newly rebranded conferencing and collaboration mainstay also revealed its plans for Google Voice and Amazon integrations.
As the first IP phones certified for Google Voice, the Polycom VVX x50 series will give companies an easy and affordable way to harness Google Voice for G Suite while taking advantage of the excellent audio quality we’ve come to expect from Polycom’s phones. With certifications for headsets and speaker phones on the way, Poly is doubling down on its commitment to giving Google Voice users the best communication experience possible.
Poly will be integrating two Amazon Web Services--Amazon Chime and Alexa for Business--into its Trio conference phones, thereby giving users an expanded range of voice commands for meeting management and device activation. Additionally, Voyager 4200 UC headsets will feature a built-in version of Alexa.
“Alexa for Business helps customers use voice to simplify meeting rooms, and we have been working with Poly to make the meeting experience even simpler by integrating Amazon Alexa into Trio devices,” said Collin Davis, general manager, Alexa for Business, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “With this integration, customers can start using Amazon Alexa with their existing Trio devices without having to add additional hardware to their meeting rooms.”
