Last year, when Poly introduced the Poly Studio series for smaller conference rooms and Poly G7500 for larger meeting rooms, we knew they would update their offerings with tweaks and improvements that made conferencing and collaboration even simpler and more intuitive. With the release of their latest software update, Poly Video OS 3.1, Poly has done just that, with refined and expanded features that make a good thing even better.
AI Improvements
Poly Studio and Poly G7500 use advanced technologies like Automatic Camera Framing and NoiseBlock AI to ensure video conference participants are seen and heard when they are speaking. The former does more than merely zoom in on whomever is speaking. With Poly’s latest update, this camera framing feature has become even more intelligent. In a way, the camera becomes another participant, moving around the room to follow the flow of the conversation in a naturalistic way that allows distant participants to feel like they are actually there.
As for Poly’s patented NoiseBlock technology, the new software update makes improvements to machine learning technology that isolates and amplifies voices while identifying and eliminating pesky background noise.
BYOD Made Easier
BYOD policies have given employees more agency in their choice of equipment, and Poly Video OS 3.1 makes it easier than ever to connect laptops to room systems. With USB Device Mode, users of Poly Studio and Poly G7500 can connect to the room system in just two steps. It’s as simple as this: press Device Mode on the monitor and then plug the USB into your laptop. That’s it. You are now ready to utilize all of Poly’s audio and video features with any meeting service you’d like.
Leveraging Poly Trio
If you’re a Poly Trio user, you can now use the 8500, 8800 and C60 models as a controller with the Zoom Room and Poly Video apps. Additionally, you can use your Poly Trio microphones to boost your audio experience.
Poly Video OS 3.1 also includes support for Poly USB headsets; new analytics capabilities via Poly Lens; camera improvements for low light situations; and 3.5mm audio mixing options for Poly G7500.
