The average consumer has grown accustomed to the idea of an all-in-one device with which they manage all communication, but a recent survey of IT professionals conducted by Spiceworks found that this assumption about connectivity does not hold sway in the world of business. According to Spicework’s survey results, 77% of North American IT professionals are using multiple providers to meet their conferencing and collaboration needs.

The reasons for courting such conferencing chaos are manifold. For one, cobbling together an array of free conferencing and collaboration services can keep costs down. Additionally, the use of multiple providers ensures that external users (clients, customers, partners) won’t be left out in the cold by a conferencing solution to which they don’t have the means to connect. This is not to mention the varying needs of employees, some of whom work from home or while on the road.

And this would all be well and good if such a strategy was actually working for IT departments. But it’s not. Not by a long shot. Only 35% of IT folks surveyed by Spiceworks reported satisfaction with their current solution. According to those surveyed, multiple solutions tend to be major time-wasters, as IT pros must train new users on various platforms and then constantly manage the complications inherent in an interlocking array of solutions. There is also the problem of inconsistency: with so many moving parts, there are bound to be discrepancies in quality, leaving many companies with a motley collection of communication methods, some of which don’t shine quite as brightly as the rest. Third, and perhaps most importantly, there is the issue of cost. One can only do so much with free solutions. At some point, investments must be made in robust conferencing and collaboration technology. And when one employs multiple providers to check all the communication boxes, infrastructure costs and subscription fees start to snowball.

But there is a way out of this chaos: a cloud-based, all-in-one solution. With an all-in-solution, all of those nagging IT issues--setup, training, troubleshooting--fade into the background. And, perhaps more importantly, the lives of everyday users are improved, as they no longer have to juggle multiple platforms just to stay connected with their co-workers and customers. With an all-in-one solution like Prime Call Cloud UC, you can connect to any video endpoint with total interoperability. So no matter what the other person is using--Cisco, Lifesize, Polycom, Skype--you will be able to communicate and collaborate with them as you would with your office neighbor.

Your job probably gets complicated enough as it is. There’s no need to make things harder with needless technology knots. Keep it simple!
